I purchased an 8.5 size even though I am normally a size 8 because I read reviews that mentioned it runs a little small. I am glad I did because they fit me perfect. I consider myself to have a slightly wide foot, and they feel pretty comfortable. I wore them out one night and got lots of compliments. Oh by the way, the back part of the shoe that goes behind the heel is a dark brown slightly elastic material, but it looks nice. Also the sole is comfortable and not at all slippery.
