Boot that means business!, December 29, 2010 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Dr. Martens Women's Bellissa Boot (Apparel) I really liked this shoe style/heel when I saw the latest Dr. Martens. I originally ordered an ankle boot in this foot style, but it didn't really look good on me. I was thrilled to find these on Amazon for such a good price. They look tough (in a good way) and feel comfortable enough to walk in all day. I got the black ones, and they're perfect for certain outfits. . .say, with a motorcycle jacket or an '80's punk look. (And I'm neither of those, but do love to dress that way occasionally.) These would also give the edge to any look. I got size 11 Womens US. I'm 5'10" and have 16" calves, and these fit just fine. I would have liked the shaft height to be a little taller, actually. . .these come about mid-calf on me. . .but I have some great thigh-high socks that I wear with them (scrunched to just below the knee.) Anyway, I'm very happy with my Dr. Marten boots and may get another pair.

runs big, wide, May 27, 2011 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Dr. Martens Women's Bellissa Boot (Apparel) Definitely purchase this shoe at least a half size smaller than your usual. I noticed where other reviewers commented about the fifteen inch opening of the boot, none seemed to mention that that's not where the boot really needs a slim down. That would be in the ankle where the boot seems to still have much of it's fifteen inch opening. Since the shoes are quality and quite comfy, I debated taking them to a cobbler to thin the ankle out, but I received so many compliments on the boots I just got used to them the way they are.

So comfortable and well made, but not very flattering on me!, November 30, 2011 By S.A. "bham" (Southeastern MI USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Dr. Martens Women's Bellissa Boot (Apparel) God I love the feel of these boots on my feet. For me, the heel is the perfect height relative to the platform in the front. I get a nice height boost from them without putting too much pressure on the ball of my foot. As a result I have worn these to a couple of parties that involved mostly standing, and never batted an eye. However, the shaft of the boot is far too large for me and I do not have toothpick legs at all! I can't wear them under any slacks I own, not even wide leg slacks, because they create an odd tent effect below the knee. And with dresses and skirts, well, they make my lower leg look quite big. I debated and debated about sending them back and then I got those invites to those standing/cocktailing/appetizering/mingling parties I mentioned and decided I needed them for the comfort factor. As all of my Dr. Martens are, they are well constructed with beautiful details. Just a couple of tweaks and I would have been in boot heaven.
